What is Wind-Up Escape?

Wind-Up Escape is a 3D timed platformer starring Tick, a tin wind-up penguin whose key turns backwards. Stamped REJECT and headed for the recycling furnace, Tick breaks out of the toy factory at midnight. Ride and leap across conveyor belts, time your runs under slamming presses, hop over turntable sweepers and swinging robot arms, cross sliding giant blocks, swing over the scrap pit on a crane magnet and ride shuttle carts to the loading dock. Every fall costs three seconds, checkpoints save your progress, and gold, silver and bronze medals reward fast runs. Collect all the gold gears and find the three hidden rainbow marbles for a perfect score. It is free to play online, right in your browser.

How to play Wind-Up Escape

• Run and jump through seven factory zones to reach the delivery truck before time runs out.
• Falls and squashes add 3 seconds. Lit checkpoints are where you restart after a slip.
• Your score is higher for a faster time, plus a bonus for every gold gear and rainbow marble.

Controls (desktop & mobile)

• WASD / Arrow keys — Move
• Space — Jump / let go of the magnet
• Touch — Left stick to move, JUMP button to jump
• P / Esc — Pause
• M — Mute

On phones and tablets, drag the stick on the left side of the screen to run and press the big JUMP button to jump. On desktop, move with WASD or the arrow keys and jump with Space.

Tips & tricks

• Jumping cancels the conveyor belt push, so hop along belts that run against you.
• Watch the red warning light on the presses and run through right after they lift.
• Rainbow marbles are tucked off the main path: peek behind machines and at the ends of side ledges.
• Falls cost 3 seconds each, so a safe jump is often faster than a risky shortcut.

Your score starts at 20,000 and loses 100 points per second of your final time (falls add 3 seconds each), plus 50 points for every gold gear and 500 for every rainbow marble.

What times earn a medal?

Finish in 50 seconds or less for gold, 65 seconds for silver and 85 seconds for bronze. Fall penalties count toward your time.

Does it need a fast computer?

No. Wind-Up Escape uses lightweight 3D graphics that run smoothly in modern browsers on most laptops, tablets and phones.
